Dan Deacon MassART show info & Outside The Lines threatened to be shut down!

dan_deacon poster.jpgDan Deacon is rolling into town next month and opener details have finally been released. The show, which is hosted at MassART and put on by Dan Shea's "Bodies of Water arts and crafts" will feature Big Digits, Nuclear Power Plants, and The Craters as openers. As with all Bodies of Water shows, entry will not be restricted by age group or any other criteria, except for the $10 door fee. The doors, which are those of the Pozen Center (where like the past 3 Dan Deacon Boston shows have been [except for that one at the Middle East in the spring]) will open promptly at 6pm. As it stands no possibility of getting advance tickets is being offered.

Also, apparently the show was originally booked for the Outside The Lines Studio, but after threats of closure by the city of Medford if future shows were put on the show had to be moved to back to the Pozen Center. The artist space, which you might have heard about from the non-Dan Deacon round robin show which went down around a month ago, is located right by Tufts and had offered itself as a rare DIY venue for a while but venues rarely win when fighting the law.

To be precise the press release states:

*This show was originally scheduled at Medford's wonderful Outside The Lines Studio, an art space for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities to show and work on their art, but the city of Medford threatened to shut them down completely if they continued putting on shows. So goes another wonderful Boston area all ages show space.
If anyone would care to write something on this, or the DIRE need for all ages artistic spaces in this city, please get in touch!
